Healthy Choices in PA Food Banks

When our longtime client Feeding PA asked us to design a logo for their newest project, PA Healthy Pantry Initiative (HPI), BlackOut couldn’t wait to jump in and help.

The PA Department of Health partnered with Feeding PA and its member food banks to increase healthy inventory available to food pantries. A registered dietitian with Feeding Pennsylvania and a nutrition educator in the participating food banks will guide pantries to increase healthy food and beverage options.

The goal of the new HPI logo is to be displayed on marketing materials throughout food pantries to nudge clients towards healthier choices. Because the logo will be displayed in multiple food pantries throughout the state, the logo had to be simple and flexible enough to be implemented in various applications, but also keep it personalized to the initiative.

The new logo creatively incorporates the PA state outline as the basket of a grocery shopping cart with produce peeking out of the top for pops of color. The shades of green used in the logo evoke the “fresh” and “healthy” feel that emphasizes the importance of healthy options.
